Maria Reyna is a woman who unabashedly pursues her passions
In creating fascinating, beautiful and sometimes controversial works of art.
Her current activities include: Painting, mixed-media art, dark room
manipulated photographs, digital imagery.
Born in Ciudad Obregon Sonora, Mexico. She was brought to the U.S by her mother at the age of four. Lived in the deserts of Arizona up until the age of twenty one. Moved to San Pedro, Ca. and lived in San Pedro for fifteen years. Lived in the City of Los Angeles for five years, and is currently living in San Clemente, Ca.
Ms.Reyna began her career as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer for the Palos Verde's Peninsula News Paper, from there began her career as a Photo-Journalist with Random Lengths Harbor Independent News.
M. Reyna has been working as a Photographer for the past fifteen years.
Best known for her in debt photo essays on the streets of Down Town L.A. She spent over five years walking..photographing...documenting the lives of the many people in some of the poorest neighborhoods of this great nation.
She received a scholarship from the Soroptimist International Of The Americas and a Minority Scholarship from Art Center of Design in Pasadena, Ca.
It has bee through her photography that she has become active in the community-bringing focus and attention to social issues and strongly believes that change can be brought fourth through communication-education-and UNIFICATION!
Active causes: Affordable Housing-Child Care, Domestic Violence-Teen Pregnancy.
